Tablets

I will admit, for the past few years I have suffered from intense TABLET ENVY. I mean, you tablet guys, everything you touch is just so damn awesome! It's freaky and crazy and wantwantwant.

And then I got a tablet. And, you know what? There's a chance that they're every bit as amazing as the deviations on this site would suggest. I wouldn't know. And why is that? Because my computer doesn't have a working cd drive, and I can't install the cocking software!

The moral of this story: don't buy expensive tools for your dump of a computer.

At the moment the plan is to load all the software onto someone else's computer, and then shift it with my external hard drive. But for some reason very few people are willing to set some time aside for me to yell at their pc.

Have you tryed connecting your tablet and down loading the software through the internet? Some things, like scanners and such will insantly install the moment you connect them.

I have tried everything. It's not a magic instant download scenario, sadly. I managed to get the software on the CD it came with onto my computer, but the software was incompatible because it was THREE YEARS older than my computer is (and my computer is no spring chicken). I downloaded several different drivers (all correct, just different releases) and the best result I got was one that worked fine until I had to turn my computer off, and then disappeared.

For the moment, I just use the tablet for colouring and pretend that my chunky mouse-derived outlines are my 'style'. But I've learned now that when I buy a current chunk of hardware, I need to check how old the software for it that they're handing me is.

It's not the big deal that my rant would make it seem - I don't have a lot of free time to use it these days, and when I do it can do what I need it too. Getting to to work properly has become a bit of a running holiday project for me.
