Description
I’m one of those people who are mad about comics, and the idea of actually working for a comic company gives me shivers of excitement. However, I pretty much suck at everything that contributes to making a comic: my art style is inconsistent, I can’t ink properly, my colouring techniques are painfully slow with cg, and in the real world colours refuse to obey me, and I lack any kind of foresight to write a lengthy script. Which pretty much leaves me with making coffee or sharpening pencils. And, I mean, if there’s anyone from Marvel of DC out there who’s in the market for a gopher, drop me a line. But I haven’t got high hopes.
Which is why I’m so happy with this. Sure, it’s just three pages of doodling, and I hate the last panel. But the narration was fully scripted, the little doodles came easily, and I really like several of the pictures myself. And on a non-doodle note, my favourite panel is the ‘bitch’ one. I think it’s probably the most recognisable illustration of the kind of person I am. That, and Freud’s special guest appearance. So as soon as I stop hating the last panel, I’ll be set.
I also quite like the comic because I got to use several different drawing styles: my standard cartooning, muppet-vision, and my dear little stick figures. The stick figure ranting at me is meant to be ~butterflyfollower, who occasionally shares knowledge with me. We tend to share vacant looks, and that means a lot to me. Someone else who means a lot to me is in the second to last panel, which also marks the first successful drawing of him I’ve done so far.
