Description

I don't often paint. And, in a catch-22 kind of way, this is entirely because I don't really know how to use the medium. Oh sure, I get the whole 'find surface, add paint' element to it, but I can't really make the medium do what I want it to.

This portrait (of my special man-friend) began as a pencil sketch on a big bit of card (around A3-ish). Then it occurred to me 'hey, I bet this wouldn't crinkle up like all my other crappy art materials if I painted on it!' And that's how I won a dollar.

I really hated the finished paints - I liked some of the effects I achieved, but really didn't like the finished product. David's features were too washed out and blergh. So I stuck it behind some furniture for a few months (I think I did the painting part back around exams...). Fast forward to now, I dug it out maybe an hour ago, and whacked some sharpie over the bits that needed accentuating.

Then I tried scanning it. Picture is bigger than my scanner. I scan in bits. Colour tone doesn't match up. I decide I don't care. I'll get ~butterflyfollower to show me how to take photo's of pictures later.

And that's how the Vikings invented tennis.
